Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Filling & Walnut Sugar Topping

So....I came across this recipe a few days ago & it seemed perfect for Father's Day! It took mine almost an hour to get firm instead of the 35 minutes the recipe listed.

It was delicious but I want to tweak it a bit. I thought it needed chocolate frosting & more cream cheese filling!

So, here's my plan:
Add mini chocolate chips to the cake batter.

Make the cream cheese layer like this:
 - 8 oz packages cream cheese
 - 3 eggs
 - 1 cup sugar
 -  1 tsp vanilla extract
 - 1/4 cup heavy cream

Leave off the walnut/sugar topping and bake for 45 minutes or until done.

After it cools, frost it with chocolate buttercream frosting & sprinkle the top with the walnuts.
